I bought this car on May 30, 2001. I ran untill November 9th, 2001. Not long but I got more passes in at the track than most people log in their entire life. I got addicted and was drivin' down the 1/4 on average about 8 times a week! Drove to Dallas to race it a couple times at Ennis but most of the time I made the 1.5 hour long trek through rush hour traffic, most on I35 going south, to River City Raceway, now known as San Antonio Raceway.

I was lucky to find a coupe in the condition this one is in. I searched for months for the perfect coupe, even looked at a few hatchbacks and a GT. I held out though and found this one in the Dallas area. The previous owner's father owned an auto shop in the area and they had a few project cars besides this car. They took great care of the car and everything was installed like it should be. Most of the aftermarket parts on it were installed by the previous owner. I swapped the Holley intake on in favor of the GT40. I installed all the Autometer gauges but the boost and traded the Weld's for the black Pony wheels. Other than that, everything else was done by them.

Times:

So yeah, not to make up excuses and all, but this was my first stick car. I learned to drive stick the day I bought it, driving home through a thunderstorm that caused floods in central Texas. Anyways, I never caught on to launching, but I've gotten better. Same with my shifting, I always heard it from my friends after a pass at the track. My move to Utah did somehow light a fire under my ass and now I can shift like a mad man and I'd like to think I can launch better, but I wouldn't know, my car hasn't run since I've moved back.

It took me a while to get my first 12 second pass and it was made racing brackets on Sunday at Fun Ford Weekend 2001. My best ET was made a few weeks later at River City Raceway (SAR now) with a 12.80 seconds at 112.66 MPH. My 60' on that 12.80 pass was a crappy 2.103. The car had a lot more than I was able to get outta her.

My best MPH was done before FFW 2001, I don't remember the date though since I never scanned the slip in. It was in the upper 113, almost 114 MPH. I will find it and scan it in when I have time, I have a huge stack of slips I pulled from inside my car.
